The start of this game spelled disaster for the Falcons. After failing to move the ball on their first two possessions, they were forced to punt. Both punts were blocked by the Crusader defense giving them excellent field position. The Crusaders were knocking on the door twice in the first quarter with the ball inside the Falcon 20 yard line. After stalling on their first red zone threat, the Crusaders attempted a 20 yard field goal. The attempt failed. The bulletproof Falcon Defense stepped up and refused to give up points. So far this year, they have outscored their opponents 160-8 in 5 games.
The Coudy offense moved the ball well at times but gave away 3 fumbles and an interception. All but one of the turnovers occurred inside Crusader territory while the Falcons were on the move. With 6:15 to go in the game the Falcons started a 60 yard drive leaving them on the Crusader's doorstep, and chewing up precious seconds on the clock. The drive ended on the 2 yard line with 1:17 on the clock and with a fumble that went back to the Crusaders. In a last ditch effort to score, the Crusaders went with 5 receivers and dropped back to pass. Mitch Freeman left his exclamation point on the field for the Falcon defense as he sacked the Crusader quarterback and sent groans through the stands. The game ended with the defense forcing a turnover on downs and the Coudy offense taking a knee to run out the clock.
The Coudersport Falcons Junior High football team is undefeated with a 5-0 record. They will be facing a tough Port Allegany team with only 2 losses this week. In their first meeting Coudersport prevailed by a score of 24 - 0. Coudy is not going to take this game lightly as they scored zero points in the second half of their first game. Also, they do not want a repeat performance from last year. They won the first game with the Gators only to be beaten in the second contest by 2 scores.
