CARP Overhaul

Coudersport Area Recreational Park Gets LONG over due Overhaul!

Go to:  Page 2  Page 3  Page 4

Coudersport Falcon home football games have been played at Coudersport Area Recreational Park since 1973. Finally, in 2008, its getting its getting a major overhaul. New home and visitor bleachers, new lights, press box, track and most importantly full locker rooms for both the home and visiting teams. Also new drainage is being put in that will hopefully help with all the wet Autumn season's we've been having lately.

The visiting teams may be the most overjoyed by this. In the past teams have had arrive first at the high school to get dressed, then load back onto their bus to make the trek up to CARP, play the game, sometimes in extreme mud, get back on their bus to ride back to the high school to shower and then get back on their bus for the trip home. The one stop will make visiting teams much happier I am sure.

A new, larger press box will be put atop a set of bleachers that will seat up to 1500 loud, obnoxious fans. The visitors side will be treated with a new set of bleachers that seat up to 500 of their fans. It also appears the bleachers may be closer to the field and the bottom row will be 6 feet above the ground to help the fans see over the players on the sideline.

Under the home bleachers will be a new set of fan restrooms as well as the new locker rooms. This should provide a much nicer facility for the fans as well as the players.

New light poles will be positioned on both side of each 20 yard line and will be back behind the track. This should provide an unobstructed view for the fans and press box personnel. Hopefully the field will also be much brighter especially in the endzones.

A new 400 meter track is also being installed. This is much needed as the old track was in bad shape due to the poor drainage. Water would seep up through the ground and upset the track service during the spring and fall frost seasons.

All construction work will hopefully be completed by the first home football game this fall when Elk County Catholic come to town August 29th. If not there may be some schedule adjustments that need to be made. Keep checking back here for updated pictures as the project progresses throughout the Spring and Summer months.
