Coaches Speak

Welcome to Coaches Speak. A weekly installment where we will publish a small blurb from one of the coaches. They will speak about what might be going on with the team, the performance from the last game or expectations for the upcoming game. Tune in each week as we will try and have these uploaded every Wednesday or Thursday.

Week 3
Friday night's game was an eye opener for us. It let us know that talent alone will not win games. Eight guys going hard will not win games. Playing hard for one half will not win games. It will take all thirty seven players and seven coaches working hard to allow us to reach our potential. Believe me, I was disappointed on Friday, but watching the game on Saturday and Sunday has led me to believe that this game was needed- now we go. There are no excuses or secret remedies, we need to play football the way it needs to be played-with heart. We are going to earn the right to be on the field as coaches and players and we will wear the Falcon uniform with a pride that is paid for, not merely given to.

2008 Offensive Coordinator: Trevor Saulter
Week 2

I was very proud of our entire team after Friday's win at Brockway. We were opening up huge holes in Brockway's defense and our backs ran very hard and were tough to tackle. The line also did a good job of pass blocking and I was able to mix up my play calling to help keep Brockway's defense off balance. They couldn't just focus on our running game.

I felt both Eric Babcock and Nate Minor really stepped up and were key factors in the win. As a coach, I expect our team to be able to run the ball and if we can continue to get that type of production out of our passing game, we should be in good shape this year.

This week's game vs Curwensville will be a great test to see where we're really at. Curwensville is a good solid football team and they have a lot of athletes on the field. They bring in a much more balanced attack offensively than thay have in years past so, our defense will be tested.

Their defense is very tough. They have good linebackers and their linemen are aggressive and try and push the line of scrimmage back into the offensive teams backfield. We will have to really get off the ball offensively to open up holes for our backs to run this week. As well, we'll have to be effective in the passing game again to help keep their defense off balance.

2008 Head Coach, Brendan Hathaway
Week 1

Well game one is in the books and I could not be prouder of how the team is coming together as one. The Elk County game was a big one for Coudy and the team worked hard in practice and the game to begin their contribution to the tradition that is Coudersport Football.

It makes our job as coaches that much easier when you have a group of players that are beginning to realize their potential and are becoming committed to be a good team.

In the coming weeks we are looking for some players to emerge as leaders and playmakers as we work to achieve our goal of playing as a team in what is the ultimate team sport.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of the parents and community members for their enormous support of Coudersport Football! We hope to see you all in Brockway!
